Learn cyanotype printing with Vermont artist Renee Greenlee. The cyanotype is an early form of photography achieved by placing an object on paper or fabric coated in ferric ammonium and potassium ferricyanide and then exposing it to sunlight. The photochemical reaction darkens the exposed surface to a beautiful blue and leaves a detailed impression of the object in white. Water is then used to develop and fix the final blue and white image.

Workshop participants will create 4 paper pieces and 1 fabric piece. All necessary materials will be provided along with an assortment of objects including plants, feathers, lace and more. Participants are encouraged to bring along additional objects that they’d like to experiment with.
